Here’s a checklist on things to do and buy when moving into a student accommodation

October 17, 2022

Recently moving in? Here’s a checklist on things to do and buy when moving into a student accommodation!

The period of moving in is always in season, therefore for those of you who are recently about to move into a new dorm or student accommodation soon, us here at Peyton & Charmed have prepared a checklist for you to know what to buy or prepare prior to moving in, especially for those who may have no experience in moving into a dorm before. Don’t forget to prepare all your personal items and be careful not to leave anything behind.

Moving-in Checklist

Peyton & Charmed will divide the checklist into the following topics to make it easier for students to organize their belongings in an elaborate manner.

Kitchen

  • Plates, bowls, spoon, fork, glasses, cups
  • Cooking pot and pan
  • Knife (For those over 18 y/o)
  • Thai seasonings
  • Spatula and other kitchen utensils
  • Dish cleaning soap and sponge

Bathroom

  • Room cleaning products
  • Sanitary products (Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.)
  • Towel

Others:

  • IOM Certificate
  • British plug adaptor

Most of the checklist stated above prior to moving in for the various equipment for cooking, and cleaning equipment must be prepared or bought beforehand as it does not come with the rooms. Here’s a tip for you: it is best to buy these essentials after settling down in the UK rather than bringing them from your country, otherwise the weight of your luggage will definitely exceed 10kg.

However, for personal items such as medicine, Peyton & Charmed suggests that students should bring these goods from their home country, since in the UK, it is difficult to find medicine to purchase and also has a relatively high price. Additionally, some steroid-containing drugs require a prescription from a doctor to purchase, making it more of a hassle.

All medicines that students carry along with them should be packaged in the correct packaging and should not be removed from the panel that separates the pills. If removed, this will make it difficult to verify. Most importantly, students should also make sure to carry a medicine label that is in English, or if there is an instance where the medicine has no label, it is better to have a medical certificate in English as well.

So for those of you who are looking for UK accommodation and don’t know where to start, Peyton & Charmed is happy to provide accommodation for students, as well as those who would like to travel to the UK for holidays. We are always ready to provide advice throughout the whole journey, therefore young ones can be confident that their safety and UK experience is ensured with us, as we hold over 18 years of experience in real estate and accommodation in the UK. #BecauseWeCare
