What to Do After Landing Safely in the UK

After your plane carrying you all has landed safely after a journey of over 12 hours, some of you might still be unsure about what to do next. In this article, Peyton & Charmed will guide you on how to prepare after setting foot in the United Kingdom.

Contact Home

Once you arrive in the UK, don't forget to contact your family or guardians to let them know you've arrived safely. After this, prepare your immigration form that you filled out on the plane to present to the officials.

Receive Your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) Card

The BRP card is a residence permit used as proof of your legal right to stay in the UK. It also serves as evidence that you are in the UK legally for study purposes. You can find the location for collecting your BRP card in the Decision Letter that was included with your passport.

For detailed information about the BRP card, you can read more here: https://www.peytonandcharmedaccomm.co.uk/blog/what-is-a-brp-card-and-how-important-is-it-for-international-students

Check-in to Your Accommodation

After completing all the procedures at the airport, we recommend that you quickly check in to your accommodation to store your belongings and rest for adjusting to life in the UK. Don't forget to contact your accommodation in advance to inform them of your arrival date and time. Peyton & Charmed can assist you with this.

Manage Your Right to Study Check

Before you can enroll as a student at your chosen university, you will need to upload the documents requested by the university for the Right to Study Check to confirm your student status. Once your Right to Study Check is complete, you can enroll and become part of the Freshers.

Register with the NHS (National Health Service)

Everyone who registers for a UK student visa receives free healthcare services, just like British citizens. To access these benefits, you will need to register with the NHS. You can find more details here: https://www.peytonandcharmedaccomm.co.uk/blog/nhs-national-health-services-uk

Explore Your Campus and Find New Friends

Before the semester starts and you become a full-fledged student, take some time to explore your university campus. Look for clubs that interest you, find other Freshers, and explore the classrooms and buildings you will be using to prepare for your first day of studies.

Look for Part-Time Work

The UK allows students to work part-time while studying at university. You can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during holidays. If you're interested in part-time work, try looking for Thai restaurants or cafes that hire part-time staff.

Apply for a National Insurance (NI) Number

If you want to work part-time, you will need an NI number, which is a tax identification number. You will need to provide this to your employer. The application process for an NI number may take approximately 8 to 9 weeks.

By understanding and preparing for what you need to do after arriving in the UK according to this article, you will land safely and have nothing to worry about. However, if you still have any questions or need assistance, you can contact Peyton & Charmed to help resolve any issues.
